Hello! Students have been hard at work beginning to learn songs for their concert.
Kindergartners have been asked to bring in an object that can make music. Some students have brought in empty cereal boxes, plastic bottles, paper and cans. The big question that I ask them is "What makes music?" We have discussed that even simple things like brushing teeth or waking up has a component of music.
First Grade: We have been singing songs that take us "around the world," like "Kookaburra" and "Guacamole."
Second Grade: Second graders have been assigned parts for their concert. We have been very much enjoying this! We also have been singing different songs such as the "Snowman Choir."
Third Grade: This week, we practiced our orange and green belt songs in their packet. We are learning different rhythm on A and B.They also were assigned their parts for the concert and we have been learning the lyrics!!
Fourth and Fifth Graders: We are learning about Broadway through people such as Susan Boyle, George Cohan and the two Witches in Wicked. We are learning some songs for our concerts but also learning about key figures in jazz such as Ella Fitzgerald and Duke Ellington.
The Troubadours are still meeting on Thursdays and I look forward to seeing them tomorrow! Everyone have a warm and restful evening!
