Good afternoon parents and students! I hope everyone is trying to enjoy this cold weather. With it brings so much! Holidays, family time and (of course) our winter sing-a-long!!
**In honor of Beethoven's birthday on December 16th , second grade classes have "whacky hair day." Beethoven's hair was usually unkempt and messy. Students can participate by wearing their whacky hair styles to school on days they have music. Mrs. Roney's class will celebrate on Monday, December 15th, Mrs. Gordon's on Wednesday December 17th and Mrs. Sadler-Haase on Thursday, December 18th. Put it in your calendars!:)
Kindergarten:
We are covering macro beats in class. They are drumming or jumping to the macro beats of different songs (Over the River and Through the Woods, This Old Man) . It allows me to work with the students one-on-one with drumming to make sure they have the beats! Mrs. Zibell's class and Mrs. Pettaway's class have gotten the chance to visit with their 5th grade buddies in preparation for their snowflake song.
Second grade:
We are finishing up our Beethoven unit. Some second graders had homework due this week. They needed to write down notes from the movie and from the book we were discussing in class. We are also singing many songs, including "Ode to Joy" in German!
Third grade:
In their recorder books, we have finished "Let's Play A" and are now covering both the orange and green belts in "Let's play A and B." They had homework that was passed out last week regarding naming notes on lines and spaces. This will help them identifying notes when they play the recorder.
Fourth Grade:
We are performing our Mozart plays next week. I have seen some wonderful props many students have brought in, and am very excited to see the final product. They have also been tested on their second degree white belts. Remember, we have recorder help available during lunch/recess!
Fifth grade:
We are finishing up our conductor challenge. I can't wait until they get to see themselves on a video and hear how these rhythms that they are creating are coming together. We also covered "America, The Beautiful". They have wonderful voices and I am enjoying their progress!
The Troubadours are also going strong. We will be singing carols in the next couple of weeks and passing out ornaments to our preschoolers and kindergartners. We are singing a special sing-a-long song as well!! here to practice for our song for December 19th!
Troubadours , please listen
Troubadours- On December 19th please remember to wear your RED shirt and BLACK pants! Thank you!
