It is a tradition of mine for all of my students to learn "Funga Alafia," a song and dance. After introductions, we sang and danced to the West African song "Funga Alafia." Its a traditional Nigerian song which welcomes guests, friends and family. The dance that goes with the song is a work in progress :). First graders and second graders will also learn the song and dance. Please, ask your students if they remember what they did in music this week. Maybe they would like to share and perform it for you!
Third graders discussed their goal for recorders this year. Information will be provided next week or the week after regarding ordering them. They seem very excited!!
Fourth and Fifth graders have a big year! With concerts and field trips, they will be doing a lot of composing. We sang through a Broadway song and discussed what they would like to know more about in music. It was a pleasure meeting them this week!
I also use ClassDojo.com in case you want to check up on behavior for your student during music class! I will be passing out paper codes next week! The students love their monster icons!
Also, throughout the year, I like to share websites which allow students to create and educate through interactive websites. Today, I shared
http://www.quavermusic.com with some classes.
Its a great resource!!
