Happy Monday parents and students! We are getting ready for our Halloween sing-a-long that students will sing during school. We will be covering the songs we will be singing in class. Monster Mash, Halloween is a Very Unusual Night and Ghostbusters are just a few of the songs we will be singing this week!
Kindergartners will be starting their kindergarten song book. We are starting with the "Itsy Bitsy Spider." We also will be reviewing their "Mouse, Mousie" game and song.
First graders are working on playing "Merlin, Merlin" with resonator bells. It is a Sol and Mi song and I have enjoyed watching them steadily progress!
Second Graders are learning a "Che Che Koolay "echo and response song that comes from Ghana, Africa. We learn the song and then play the game.
Third Graders will be receiving a recorder packet (thanks largely to Mrs. Salton) this week that they will be required to bring to each class until December.
Fourth Graders will be going on their DSO field trip in November and will be learning about composers like Aaron Copland this week to get them ready. They are also testing for their white belt, first degree this week. We are practicing in class and should be prepared.
Fifth graders are reviewing ostinato's and will be starting texture with "Tie Me a Kangaroo Down Sport," a song from Australia. They are also learning some Aussie slang as well!
